Chicken Permit

Application

Residents interested in keeping chickens within the City of Nerstrand must complete and submit a Chicken Permit Application prior to obtaining chickens or annually if you have been approved. Fee is $10.00. 

Applications should include all required information, including the proposed coop location. Please review all permit requirements carefully before submitting your application.

Key reminders:

• A permit is required before keeping chickens.
• Up to 12 chickens are permitted.
• Roosters over 7 weeks of age are prohibited.
• Coops and enclosures must comply with applicable zoning and setback requirements.
• Permits are subject to review and approval by the City.
