Nerstrand Fire Relief Association

The Nerstrand Fire Relief Association is a nonprofit corporation responsible for managing public funds dedicated to providing retirement benefits for individuals who serve as firefighters and emergency first responders. It operates independently from Nerstrand Fire and Rescue and is governed by its own board of trustees.

In addition to its special fund, the Relief Association also manages a general fund. This fund is composed of non-tax and non-public donations, typically generated through community fundraising efforts. Expenditures from the general fund are governed by the association’s bylaws and may be used at the association’s discretion. Recent uses have included donations to the City of Nerstrand for the purchase of firefighting equipment, as well as contributions to the Relief Association’s special fund.
