Nerstrand Fire Relief Association

Nerstrand Fire Relief Association is a non-profit corporation that receives and manages public money to its special fund to provide retirement benefits for individuals providing firefighting and emergency first response. The relief association is a separate entity from Nerstrand Fire and Rescue, and is governed by its own board of trustees.

The Nerstrand Fire Relief Association also manages a general fund. The general fund is the fund into which non-tax or non-public funds are deposited and from which moneys can be expended as the relief association sees fit, as governed by its bylaws. The general fund traditionally is supported donations and revenues raised from community fundraising events. Recent uses for this fund include donations to the City of Nerstrand for purchasing firefighting equipment or contributions to the Nerstrand Fire Relief Association special fund.
